balding...

Posted by Brook in Randomness

I'm not turned off at all towards going bald and I guess my mom was right about me wearing my baseball cap all the time. The state of the top of my head occurred to me most recently after playing an afternoon of cornhole and volleyball out in the hot sun. Yes, it's true... For the first time in my life I got sunburnt on THE TOP of my head. Yesterday and today my skin is peeling up top there...next to my widow's peak.

Today, I went an got my usual hair cut. A new gal was working and we began making small talk. She noticed my peeling head skin and I commented on how she may as well just shave it all off... You know, Greg Qualls' style. Then, I popped the question. I asked her how old she thought I looked given my receding hairline. And, drum roll please, she said I looked "I dunno... 35 or 40." 35 or 40? 35 or 40! Dang girl... I'm not even twenty-five!

So, here's to losing hair, looking older and wearing ball caps... What about you? Have you still got hair?

see, the difference with me is that she would think I'm 35 because of my gut....

Notice I didn't take a picture of my belly! Haha... man, if only the "Freshman 30" was a joke... Now, I'm no longer a Freshman, but dang, am I hanging onto the 30! Maybe it was more my double-chin than it was my hair?

I still have a full head of hair although I am probably about 25% gray already and only 27. Gotta love what kids and stress will do to yah.

(Great blog. Found you through CJ and Brad.)

Brook, my brother. Welcome to the ranks. I freaking hate burning my scalp! Or lack there of. I would guess in about one more year or maybe less, I am just going to shave it off. It was enjoyable to read your blog. It made me laugh, because I understand your feelings no matter how not-straight that may sound. I am only 23, and some 30-something year old guy (i would guess 37) thought I was older than him. I couldn't believe it! Anyways, now I wear hats even more so I don't burn my head. You can't really rub suntan lotion all over that, you know what I mean?

Bwhahahahahaha 35 or 40 hahahahahaha

Worry not, I get the same thing. I, too, inherited a receding hairline.

Fortunately my grandfather on my mother's side still has a full head of thick, white hair. I'm holding onto that hope.

Thanks for the good laughs, guys. I'm still not sure I look 35 or 40, but I did tell this story today during my talk on Thailand... It got a good laugh there also...

@adam - Thanks for stopping by, bro. I'm heading to your site now to check it out...

Ha! I saw this under your most popular posts, it made me laugh. Tim used to get told he looked in his 30's to late 30's before he was 25 too. I was like, no way! I think my husband looks pretty darn good bald. smilies/smiley.gif And, I never would have thought you looked that old!
