Lazy Photographer :: night scene

Posted by Brook in Lazy Photographer

Last night I got an email from a blog-buddy, Everett White. He found my photography via Flickr a while back and has shown his face around this blog for several comments. With an evening off of work he decided to head out to our neck of the woods for a few photos...which, no one except a photo-explorer would venture to do. There's not much going on out here but work!

Anyway, we had a great time. We talked church, photography and life and proved to provide a much needed rest from the daily grind of working all day on this remodel project only to go back after dinner to work more. We stood outside for more than an hour just chatting and capturing the billions of stars overhead.

This photo is the best I could come up with. Ever met a "blog-buddy" in "real life"? How'd it go for you?

Beautiful shot.

We had a family of 4 from Pennsylvania (I am in Oregon) stay with us in June. Never met face to face until then. Met them in the blog world. We have a couple coming in October that is the same. Never met face to face. And in February, we head to Tennessee to meet about 30 of our blog friends for the first time.

So far so good. Loving the relationships in the blog community.

Michael, I look forward to getting to know you and Sara more. You're good people! Thank you for your hospitality, the fantastic conversation, the pho-advice, and the books. I think I'm going to end up buying a tripod from Amvona.

Your photo came out great! What do you know about the sensor problems?

Last time I saw a sky like that was in the middle of Wyoming. Gilead must be a special place smilies/wink.gif

Thanks for the kind comments, guys.

@Everett - Well, in this photo I just cropped it out. Not exactly sure what caused it, but I almost wonder if it just wasn't a weird lens flare/glare since I couldn't find my lens hood? With the convex side of the glass facing out could the light just have been shining weirdly across the face of the lens? I dunno... It wasn't on all of the images...but the location of the flare didn't change even when I moved the camera around...which would then lead me to believe it was an actual sensor issue. Which then confuses me all the more.

Will research...

Great picture man. I haven't met anyone from the blog world. Everyone I catch up with are in the midwest and I am in PA. Plus our life is so unstable that we live half the month in the hospital. But hopefully someday.
